This poster will detail progress toward the synthesis of derivatives of the phenolic stilbenoid Chiricanine A ((E)-2-(3-methylbut-2-enyl)-5-styrylbenzene-1,3-diol). Chiricanine A is toxic against a. aegyptii larvae and has antifungal properties [J. Nat. Prod. 2001, 64, 710-715]. We have prepared novel analogs of this compound which incorporate alternate aromatic substituents (4-fluorophenyl, 4-nitrophenyl, 2-naphthyl, 4-pyridyl, furfuryl) in place of the unsubstituted phenyl ring.
