DNA photolyase repairs cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers on DNA using a light-driven electron transfer from a fully reduced FAD (FADH- state) cofactor to the lesion. FADH·, therefore, is an intermediate of the repair process. The FADH- /FADH· reduction potential was measured over a pH range using a spectroelectrochemical titration to further understand the mechanism of the repair.
